Hungary, as it has already become clear, has no sea, but it is a beach destination. With almost 600 sq. Km. Lake Balaton is the largest lake in Central Europe. It is so large that it is often called the Hungarian Sea, and tourists have been flocking to its shores for decades in search of sunshine. And the water in the nearby Lake Hévíz has medicinal properties and is believed to cure rheumatism.
Hungary is one of the most preferred countries for excursions. With its many natural and cultural treasures and landmarks, it is a very attractive country. The capital Budapest attracts millions of tourists every year. There is a very well-developed economy and therefore in this topic, we will study minimum and average wages, the variety of professions and the way salaries are distributed in different regions. Also, we will look at income and cost of living taxes in Hungary.
Minimum wage
Under an agreement, the monthly minimum wage for unskilled workers will rise by 16 percent to 232,000 forints (604 euros), while the minimum wage for skilled workers is 296,400 forints (775 euros). The minimum wage applies to all workers, regardless of age, gender, education or occupation. Employers are required to pay a minimum wage to all their employees who work at full wage. The minimum wage in Hungary is relatively low compared to other developed countries of the European Union. Despite its low level, the minimum wage in Hungary is important for the social protection of workers. It provides a minimum standard of living for workers who receive a minimum wage.
Average salary
The average salary varies greatly depending on the profession and sector of activity. Hungary offers a variety of professional opportunities, such as the financial sector, information technology and manufacturing. For example, the average salary in the IT sector is about 3,000 euros, and in the construction sector – about 1,500 euros.
The average salary in Hungary is 987,993 forints per month (2,585 euros), but the most commonly received is 491,956 forints (1,287 euros) per month. Salaries are different for men and women, with men receiving more.
Some of the most paid careers are in agriculture and fishing with an average income of 2,312,196 forints (6,050 euros) per month and management and business 1,539,534 forints (4,029 euros) per month.
There are also differences in salaries depending on the length of service.

Income taxes in Hungary
The personal income tax in Hungary is progressive. The tax rate depends on the amount of income. For incomes up to 5,300,000 forints (13,870 euros) per year, the tax rate is 15%. For incomes over 5,300,000 forints per year, the tax rate is 30%.
The corporate tax in Hungary is 9% of the profit made in Hungary. The tax is paid by all companies that are registered in Hungary, regardless of their nationality or place of management.
VAT in Hungary has two rates: a common rate of 27% and a reduced rate of 18%. Zero VAT applies to certain goods and services, such as medicines, food, books, etc.
Real estate tax: 1.1% of the tax base is determined by the tax administration. Tax on movable property: 0.3% of the tax base is determined by the owner of the property. Tax on movable property: 0.3% of the tax base is determined by the owner of the property.
